Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic Acupuncture and Facial Rejuvenation are safe, gentle and natural anti-aging practices to enhance beauty and wellbeing. They can assist in softening lines and wrinkles, lifting sagging, increasing firmness and boosting blood circulation creating a glowing, bright and even skin. The treatments will also address your health and the whole body, so problem skin and Acne can be eliminated. Being safe, natural and gentle, there is so much that Facial Rejuvenation can treat.
Cosmetic Acupuncture uses the knowlegde from Traditional Chinese Medicine which has almost 5000 years of documentation. The treatments have been refined and developed into a practice we can bring to modern Australia.
Very fine needles that are made especially to be used for the face are inserted using different techniques on targetted areas of the face to stimulate the production of elastin and collagen which will achieve a firming effect.
Your treatment can be claimed on your private health insurance if you have extras cover. Please bring your card so we can put it through on our HICAPS - all you need to pay is the gap.

Cosmetic Acupuncture Results Timeline

The information below is a general description and timeline of what can be expected with Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments. The timeline is based on 1 treatment per week.
Week 1 & 2
From patient experience, results of softened, hydrated and glowing skin are visible within 1 – 2 weeks. The most common feedback is that patients find their skin has become softer and easier to manage and the dryness has disappeared. This is due to the instant blood flow that arrives to the face and skin during facial acupuncture, oxygenating the cells and boosting oxygen and nutrient transfer throughout the skin. Working on motor points will see that the muscles in the face are more relaxed and tension in brow and jawline is softening. There is increased colour in the face and the complexion is brightened.

Week 3 & 4
By now, a lifting and tightening sensation in the muscles is generally reported in weakened, droopy muscles. The skin feels more refined and is softer and large pores are minimised. Many women tell us at this point that their make up is looking nicer and staying on for longer. This is due to the increased hydration of the skin. The skin is visibly more taut and fine lines and crepiness have begun to soften.

Facial rejuvenation

Lift and Tone

In this first technique, Motor points are targeted in the muscles of the face.
The area where the nerves contact the muscle is called a motor point, it is a specific location. When a motor point is needled, the muscle responds and sends a signal to the Central Nervous System (CNS). Tight muscles will relax, and loosened, weak or drooping muscles will be instructed to tighten and lift. An overall firmer and lifted feeling and appearance can be experienced from this technique alone.

Firm and Tighten

In this technique we are working to boost the collagen and elastin in the facial tissues and the skin. Ultra-fine acupuncture needles are placed through targetted areas of the face that need a boost of collagen and elastin. This totally painless technique causes a “microtrauma” in the local area, signalling the body’s healing cells to start producing collagen and elastin to repair the area.
This technique results in softening of lines and firming of the face by adding back density to an area that has had a loss of volume.

Circulate, Boost and Balance

Thirdly, but not lastly, this needling technique aims to promote nutrient-rich blood circulation to the area, oxygenating the facial tissue and skin. Free flowing Qi (energy) and blood in the face will help move any darkened skin and stagnation, promoting a bright, clear and glowing complexion. As the skin receives oxygen and nutrient exchange from the facial tissue, it will become softer, more supple and more hydrated.
Acupuncture points in your body are also specifically chosen to balance and free flow your entire body system. This aims to eliminate and balance any health concerns or underlying disharmony that may be holding you back from looking your best.

Week 5 to 7
The results of the stimulation of collagen with Cosmetic Acupuncture now becomes evident. The skin around the mouth and cheeks feels tighter and lines are beginning to soften. The soft tissue of the face feels firmer and denser. There is a visible and palpable plumping out in targeted areas where there has been loss of volume. Muscles in the face will feel lifted and eyes will look brighter and be more open.

Week 8 to 12
Usually, the best overall changes occur between weeks 8 & 12. The face continues to feel firmer and denser, opening up the nasolabial fold (from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth) and lifting marionette lines (folds off the corner of mouth that give off the sad/drooping look). Lines have softened and skin looks plump, hydrated and taut. The complexion is even, pores are smaller and redness diminished.

Cosmetic Acupuncture treatments are cumulative, meaning the benefits continue to add to each other and results enhance treatment upon treatment. Maintenance sessions are recommended every 4 to 8 weeks depending on your age and skin type. The results achieved, when maintained, can last for years.
